Cantor Don Goldberg

Cantor Don Goldberg is a synagogue cantor, high school instructor, concert singer, and lecturer. He made his professional concert debut in 1961 and his operatic debut in 1962. In 1968 and 1969, Cantor Goldberg successfully auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera choruses while performing 13 leading roles with several New York opera companies.

In 1973, Don made his cantorial debut and has since sung in synagogues in the United States, Sweden, and Austria. Don made his radio debut as a singer in 1973, and for ten years he produced and hosted the Celebration Opera Program at Hofstra University. In 1990 he produced the first ever all-day radio marathon dedicated to Enrico Caruso.

Since 1987, Don has been a regular guest producer and host of opera programs on WMNR in Monroe, Connecticut, and WKCR at Columbia University in New York. In 1996 and 1997, Don ran contests in New York and Connecticut for the greatest singer of the century. Jussi Björling won both contests although Don played no Björling music during the three months of polling leading up to the conclusion of the contest.

Cantor Goldberg has been married to his lovely wife Barbara for 34 years; they have three children, all of whom have pursued medical careers.
